Blueprint: Media Work and the Twelfth Annual Wearable Arts Exhibition
March 2, 2026 — April 26, 2026
Margaret Shepherd Ray Family and Student Gallery
Each year, a unique collaboration unfolds between the Chrysler Museum of Art and The Governor’s School for the Arts. Celebrating its twelfth iteration, this year’s program invited students to draw inspiration from the Museum’s permanent collection and the structural depth of Architects of Being: Louise Nevelson and Esphyr Slobodkina.
To honor this twelfth anniversary—a number synonymous with the cycles of the clock, the zodiac, and the calendar—students were challenged to weave the passage of time and the principles of architecture into their work. This exhibition showcases the evolution of their process, from thematic two-dimensional studies to the wearable art that graced the runway. Through personal artist statements, each piece offers an intimate look at the craftsmanship and conceptual vision of these talented students.
This partnership between The Governor’s School for the Arts and the Chrysler Museum of Art is a true celebration of creative problem-solving and artist agency. It is a way to encourage young artists to use museums as sources of inspiration and artistic growth, then show off that unique perspective to the community. Working with the innovative students, faculty, and staff at GSA encourages new ways of seeing the Museum’s collections and exhibitions.
