Frieze Los Angeles – Los Angeles, California 
Wednesday–Sunday, February 12–16, 2020

The Chrysler Museum of Art invites all Masterpiece Society and Director’s Circle Members to join Kimberli Gant, PhD, McKinnon Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art, on a five-day trip to Los Angeles, California. Chrysler Members will enjoy VIP previews of two new contemporary art fairs, Frieze Los Angeles and Felix. Frieze Los Angeles started just last year and offers an unparalleled opportunity to discover seventy of the world’s most significant and forward-thinking galleries. Felix aims to create a more intimate fair experience for collectors, dealers, and artists. Gant will also guide travelers on curated visits to private collections, artists’ studios, and area galleries.

Reservations are $895 per person. Airfare and hotel are not included. The group is limited to twenty travelers. Find details and the reservation form in our brochure. Inquire for details. Register by December 20, 2019.

 

2020 Oberammergau Passion Play
May 26–June 5, 2020

Experience a rare performance of the extravagant Passion Play, performed for nearly four centuries and staged once a decade in storybook Oberammergau. Enjoy a five-night, deluxe cruise along the Danube River, spend two nights each in the Bavarian Alps and Munich and visit four countries. Exclusive Masterpiece Society Art Travel

Penland and Asheville, North Carolina 
Sunday–Wednesday, October 27–30, 2019

Join us for an adventure down South with Carolyn Swan Needell, PhD, the Chrysler’s Carolyn and Richard Barry Curator of Glass and Robin Rogers, Perry Glass Studio Manager. Explore the studios of artists working in modern craft and studio glass, discover the rich history and legacy of the area, and meet artist Mark Peiser. His hot cast glass work Passage 7 was added to the Chrysler’s permanent collection last year through the generosity of eighteen Museum Members. The three-night trip is open to Masterpiece Society Members. Highlights include; a tour of the Biltmore Estate, a private reception at Blue Spiral 1 Gallery, a private tour of the newly renovated Asheville Art Museum and afternoon at the Penland School of Craft. Accessibility may be limited due to the rustic nature of some artists’ studios. This trip is sold out. 

 

Save the Date: Americans in Spain: Wednesday, May 5–Friday, May 14, 2021

Experience the historically rich arts culture of Spain during an eleven-day journey with Corey Piper, Brock Curator of American Art. Visit Madrid, Seville, Córdoba, Granada, and Málaga, and enjoy private tours of the region’s most historical attractions as well as Unesco world heritage sites such as the Alhambra in Granada, the Alcázar of Segovia, and the Monastery of San Lorenzo of El Escorial. Also, explore fine art from the Prado Museum in Madrid, the Seville Museum of Fine Arts, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum Madrid, and Picasso Museum in Málaga. Reservations will open spring 2020.
