Perry Glass Studio Opening Weekend

Join us as we celebrate the grand opening of the Perry Glass Studio! From March 28–30, 2025, enjoy a weekend filled with glassmaking demonstrations, special events, and a citywide celebration of glass art.

Event Schedule

Friday, March 28: Guest artist demonstrations throughout the day.
Saturday, March 29: Glass and Glitz Grand Gathering & Auction, 6–10 p.m. (Tickets Sold Out!)
Sunday, March 30: El Día de los Niños Festival, 11 a.m.–3 p.m., Free and open to all

General Information

What are the Chrysler Museum and Perry Glass Studio hours?
For our regular business hours click here. During the Grand Opening weekend, our hours will be:

  • Friday, March 28: The Museum and Glass Studio will be open from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 29: The Museum will close early at 4 p.m. The Glass Studio will be open from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
    Following the noon demonstration, the Penny and Peter J. Meredith Jr. Theater hotshop will close at 1 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 30: The Chrysler Museum of Art will be open from 11 a.m.– 5 p.m. The Perry Glass Studio will be open from 10 a.m.– 5 p.m.

Where is the event located?

Events will take place at the Chrysler Museum of Art (One Memorial Place, Norfolk, VA 23510) and the Perry Glass Studio (245 Grace Street, Norfolk, VA 23510).

Parking and Transportation

Where can I park?

  • Friday & Saturday: Museum parking lots are available for self-parking. Valet parking is available for the Glass and Glitz Grand Gathering & Auction on Saturday.
  • Sunday: Free parking is available in the Museum lots. Overflow parking is available at the Harrison Opera House for a $5 fee.

Are there any road closures?

Yes. A portion of Grace Street from the corner of Duke Street to the Perry Glass Studio parking lot will be closed on Sunday, March 30, from 7 a.m.–8 p.m. Plan accordingly for detours and parking.

Is public transportation available?

Yes!

  • Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) Light Rail: The closest stations are MacArthur Square and York Street/Freemason. Follow the sounds of live musicians who will help guide you toward the festival!
  • F.R.E.D. (Free Ride Every Day): A free shuttle that connects the NEON District to Downtown Norfolk.
  • Lime Scooters & Bikes: Available throughout the NEON District for easy travel.

El Día de los Niños Festival

What activities will be at the festival?

The Children’s Day Festival will feature:

  • Live performances including Ballet Folklorico by Mis raíces bailan, Flamenco Guitar by Tony Rivera, Mariachi music with Mariachi America en Richmond, Harps on Fire, and Rainbow Puppet Productions
  • Glassmaking demonstrations by world-renowned De La Torre Brothers. Plus, MiNHi England, Kimberly Thomas, Sarah Vaughn and more!
  • Children’s vendor market and art carnival
  • Bounce houses and yard games
  • Drumming with Shark City Drum and Dance Corp and Tabor Trio
  • Food trucks and more!

Will food and drinks be available?

Yes! Food trucks and vendors will be present during the Children’s Day Festival. Drinks and refreshments will also be available at various locations throughout the weekend. Zinnia Café, located inside the Chrysler Museum will be open 11 a.m.–2 p.m.

Do I need to register for the festival?

No, registration is not required. The event is free and open to all.

Norfolk Glass Circuit Tour

What is the Norfolk Glass Circuit Tour?

A self-guided glass art adventure connecting three key glass venues in Norfolk:

  1. d’Art Center – Enjoy the Glass Immersed Exhibit featuring artwork from Perry Glass Studio artists and work from the Perry glass collection.
  2. Chrysler Museum of Art – Celebrate the Grand Opening with El Día de los Niños Festival and glass demonstrations.
  3. Glass Light Hotel & Gallery – Explore their galleries

How does the Circuit Tour work?

  • Start your journey at the d’Art Center and pick up a Circuit Swag Bag.
  • Collect stamps at each location.
  • Turn in your fully stamped Circuit Card at the d’Art Center to enter a prize drawing!
