Lummi Nation Sibling Artists Featured in Exhibition “Clearly Indigenous: Native Visions Reimagined in Glass” Visit the Chrysler Museum of Art

NORFOLK, Va., August 8, 2025 –
WHO: The Chrysler Museum of Art’s Perry Glass Studio welcomes renowned contemporary glass artists and members of the Lummi Nation, Dan and Raya Friday, as part of its Visiting Artist Series.
Over the past two decades, Dan Friday has worked with leading artists like Dale Chihuly and Preston Singletary, and has taught at Pilchuck and held residencies around the world. A recipient of the 2020 Artist Trust and Discovery Fellowships, his work draws from personal narrative and Lummi heritage.
Raya Friday, a glass sculptor trained at Alfred University, has worked at the Corning Museum of Glass as both technician and instructor. In 2019, she decided to return to school to pursue a degree in Indigenous Studies through the Native Pathways Program at Evergreen State College. Her work explores how glass can express both historical and contemporary issues facing her community.
WHAT: The Perry Glass Studio’s Visiting Artist Series brings the world’s top glass art talent to the Hampton Roads area. As featured artists in the Museum’s latest and groundbreaking exhibition, “Clearly Indigenous: Native Visions Reimagined in Glass,” Dan and Raya Friday bring fresh perspectives, inspiring conversation, and fiery demonstrations to the hotshop floor.

WHEN: Dan and Ray Friday join the Museum from Thursday, August 28, to Sunday, August 31. You can catch them in action at:
- Glass After Dark, on Thursday from 7–10 p.m.
Hot glass and live music come together for a memorable evening as Dan and Raya join the Studio team to create molten magic. - Free demonstrations from Friday–Sunday at 10 a.m.–1 p.m. and 2:30–5 p.m.
- Artist Talk on Saturday at 7 p.m.
