Ninth Annual Wearable Arts Exhibition
March 29, 2023 — April 30, 2023
Margaret Shepherd Ray Family and Student Gallery

Each year, the Chrysler Museum of Art and The Governor’s School for the Arts partner on a semester-long program that culminates in a fashion show, Fabrication on Friday, March 24 and an exhibition, The Art of Storytelling. This year, the students found inspiration in the Chrysler Museum’s permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. All text featured on each label is submitted by the artist in their own words. New to this year’s exhibition, visual arts students submitted two-dimensional works to hang in the Museum during the event and alongside the wearable arts. These artists thoughtfully explored storytelling in painting, collage, drawing, and digital media. Over 50 students participate in the Wearable Arts Show. Each modeled look that went down the runway is exhibited at the Museum after the event. This year’s theme invited artists to tell stories through their creative choices. To prepare for this year’s in-person fashion show, the students spent several months selecting their inspirations, sketching designs, and constructing runway-ready looks.
