In this unconventional workshop, we’ll begin with a tour of two new exhibitions – Architects of Being and the Wearable Arts Fashion Show – Led by student-designers at The Governor’s School for the Arts. They will demonstrate how to decompose, analyze, and gain inspiration from the artwork on view. Then, taking visual cues from the exhibitions, the students will teach a unique bleach-painting technique. Using fabric as a canvas, we’ll bring themes from the two shows to life. We’ll provide a garment, but feel free to bring in a black garment of mostly natural fibers to paint on if you’d like. You’ll leave with a unique hand-painted fashion item, along with new ways to approach and understand art!
This workshop will meet in the Education Workshop, and the bleach-painting portion will take place on the covered porch in the Memorial Garden.
