This session of Art Matters will start in the Joyce Scott: Messages exhibition, exploring her use of jewelry and beadwork to communicate powerful ideas and social commentary. Then, participants will venture throughout the Museum to view wearable art across time and from around the world.
Museum experiences, like Art Matters, are evidence-based interventions that help to improve the quality of life for those living with dementia. Individuals with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease and their care partners are invited to diverse conversational tours at the renowned Chrysler Museum of Art designed to both offer a pleasant experience and serve as cognitive stimulation. Art Matters is a free program presented in partnership with the Southeastern Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
