We are what we eat—or so it’s been said since nineteenth-century France. The Farm to Table: Art, Food, and Identity in the Age of Impressionism exhibition, which features artworks by well-known artists such as Matisse and Van Gogh, will be the starting place for this Art Matters. Join us for a look at how artists have depicted the growing, cooking, transporting, serving, and, of course, eating of food, and explore what our food may say about us.
Museum experiences, like Art Matters, are evidence-based interventions that help to improve the quality of life for those living with dementia. Individuals with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease and their care partners are invited to diverse conversational tours at the renowned Chrysler Museum of Art designed to both offer a pleasant experience and serve as cognitive stimulation. Art Matters is a free program presented in partnership with the Southeastern Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
