This lively program celebrates the release of Declare: A Civic Gospel, a newly crafted edition of the Declaration of Independence by Arion Press, and features Andrew Davenport, Director of Jefferson Studies at Monticello; Tim Seibles, former Poet Laureate of Virginia; and Stephanie Syjuco, a Guggenheim-winning installation artist. Moderated by Sarah McCammon, NPR Correspondent and author, the discussion explores the artistic, historical, and civic significance of reimagining this foundational American document as a contemporary work of art.

In addition to the discussion, Seibles will perform his poem Self-Evident, and participants will enjoy the opportunity to print broadsides of the Declaration of Independence using a historic letterpress.
