Members’ Exhibition Preview: Thomas Jefferson, Architect

Be among the first to see the Chrysler-curated fall exhibition, Thomas Jefferson, Architect: Palladian Models, Democratic Principles, and the Conflict of Ideals and enjoy performances by violinist Seán Heely, heavy hors d’oeuvres by Cuisine & Company, and a cash bar. Each Member will receive one free drink ticket. Masterpiece Society Members are invited to a private tour of the exhibition at 5 p.m. Invitations will arrive by mail. Explore and draw inspiration from the Chrysler’s collection of historic beer steins, then learn about the basics of coldworking while engraving your own mug. Fill up your custom mug during a private tour of O’Connor Brewing Company later that afternoon  Cheers!

Teacher Preview: Thomas Jefferson, Architect

Visit the Chrysler’s fall exhibition, Thomas Jefferson, Architect: Palladian Models, Democratic Principles, and the Conflict of Ideals before your field trip or to enhance your classroom lessons. Resources and refreshments will be available in the Education workshop. Childcare for ages 2–12 will also be provided for teachers, administrators, and other school staff while they tour the exhibition. Free. Registration required for childcare.

Teacher Professional Development: Using Art and Architecture to Teach About Slavery

Teachers, discover ways to use key objects in the exhibition Thomas Jefferson, Architect to help your students uncover more about the lives of enslaved people and the institution of slavery in the United States. Two sessions of this class are available on October 19. 11 a.m. or 3 p.m. Free. Registration is required. This program has been funded in part by a grant from Virginia Humanities.
