Grey Matter
SUFFOLK, Va. – (April 2013) – The Chrysler Museum of Art presents Grey Matter, works by the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio faculty. The show is on view May 2 to July 20 at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. This collaboration with the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts and the city’s Suffolk Art Gallery is part of the Chrysler Museum’s Roadshow, a series of exhibitions throughout the region while the Museum is closed for a major expansion.
The exhibition features works by 11 artists, and the majority of the pieces have been created specifically for this show. Grey Matter, as the title suggests, examines themes of memory and mentality, senses and perception, emotions, body, and spirit. It is an excellent opportunity to see the quality of contemporary and conceptual art that is being produced by the up-and-coming generation of glass artists in our region and at our Glass Studio.
Exhibition Preview and Reception, Thursday, May 2 from 6–8 p.m.
Museum Director Bill Hennessey and Glass Studio faculty will share their expertise and artistic insights into the fascinating world of glass.
The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts is located at 110 W. Finney Ave. in downtown Suffolk, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit suffolkscenter.org. Admission is free.
