A still-life painting is where ordinary objects like flowers or food become the subjects of extraordinary artistry. Stimulated by the supreme and sublime examples of still-lifes in Farm to Table: Art, Food, and Identity in the Age of Impressionism, participants of this class will explore the timeless tradition of still-life painting in a supportive and inspiring environment. Guided by Molly Stanley, participants will paint acrylic still-lifes and learn composition principles, lighting, and color theory.
Molly Stanley is an artist and educator originally from Reading, Pennsylvania. She has a B.S. in Art Education from Mansfield University and a M.A. in Arts Administration from Kutztown University. Molly has taught and written curriculum for a variety of age groups from as young as pre school through higher education around the country. As an artist, Molly primarily focuses on drawing, photography, and painting. She is also trained in ceramics, both sculpture and pottery, black and white as well as digital photography, including the adobe creative suite, and printmaking.
