Discover cool culture and canned cocktails at the Chrysler Museum of Art’s First Thursdays—an after-hours event. Each month, explore a different theme and enjoy a laid-back atmosphere. First Thursdays offer the perfect occasion to meet new people, enjoy a free date night, get creative, or simply wind down the week. In addition to the galleries, the Museum Shop is open for retail therapy, and Zinnia Café is open for good eats. This is your night! All ages welcome.
Our scrumptious exhibition, Farm to Table: Art, Food, and Identity in the Age of Impressionism, reminds us that the food on our plates says a lot about who we are and where we live. Along with exhibition tours, this First Thursday spotlights all things local! Savor a farmers’ market with a twist, organized by Wandering Makers and featuring their infamous raffles, games, and prizes. Andrew McKnight & Beyond Borders, a Virginia-based Appalachian band, will honor the rural musical legacy of our area. And Mercy Chefs, based in Portsmouth, will partner with Mark Castro, our Director of Curatorial Affairs, to chat about their global mission delivering high-quality meals to those affected by disaster, crisis, and poverty.
- 5-8 p.m. – Vendor Market
- 5-7 p.m. – Andrew McKnight & Beyond Borders Band
- 5:30-7 p.m. – Floral Arrangement Workshop
- 6-6:30 p.m. – Tour of Farm to Table
