The Chrysler Museum of Art Announces Recognition as the Outstanding Nonprofit at November National Philanthropy Day

NORFOLK, Va. (Oct. 8, 2025) — The Chrysler Museum of Art is pleased to announce that they will be recognized as Outstanding Nonprofit in Fundraising by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Hampton Roads Chapter at the Nov. 12 National Philanthropy Day event at the Westin Virginia Beach – Town Center, Virginia Beach.

One reason the Museum was selected for this recognition was the continued growth of their community partnerships and philanthropy demonstrated through a successful $55 million campaign which included the Perry Glass Studio expansion from 9,200 sq. ft to 33,200 sq. ft., making it a world-class educational and international hub for glass art, benefiting the community and visitors. Also, this includes free curriculum-based learning experiences which serve every local school district through the Governor’s School of the Arts and classes in glass art which strengthen degree programs at nearby colleges and universities like Norfolk State University, Old Dominion University and Tidewater Community College.

Generosity and guidance from the Museum’s board of trustees and its donors, as well as partnerships with individuals, corporations and foundations, drive support for operations, exhibitions and programs. Overarching philanthropy has made it possible for more than 200,000 visitors annually to enjoy free admission, eliminating financial barriers and guaranteeing equitable access to the arts. “This collective philanthropy grows the Museum’s fundraising capacity and continues to create a community of giving that elevates Hampton Roads as a cultural, educational, and economic hub,” said Erik Neil, Ph.D., Macon and Joan Brock Director of the Chrysler Museum of Art.

A sampling of programming and offerings at the Chrysler Museum of Art includes:

  • The Goode Works on Paper Center, a state-of-the-art facility that reinforces the Museum’s reputation as a steward of cultural heritage,
  • Strategic campus growth presents potential for future development.
  • Fortified endowments that place the Museum at the forefront of technology, innovation, and talent, while enhancing capacity for collections care and the presentation of dynamic exhibitions, and
  • A robust lineup of experiential and participatory workshops and programs that stimulate a diverse range of audiences and donors, including original events such as IgNITE, Glass After Dark, Second Saturday Art Pop-Ups, as well as a new wellness initiative.

Recognizing membership as a vital relationship builder and philanthropic gateway, on April 1, 2025, the Museum launched a refreshed, mission-driven membership program. Through strategic partnerships, visionary leadership, and a commitment to best practices, the Museum continues to grow its community of supporters, sustaining its mission for future generations.

As always, the Chrysler Museum of Art brings people and art together by providing access to all with Museum entry free of charge. To stay up-to-date on upcoming events, exhibitions and more, visit chrysler.org or follow on social media @ChryslerMuseum.
