Wonder Wednesdays Return to the Chrysler Museum this July

NORFOLK, VA (June 23, 2026) –
Who: The Chrysler Museum of Art invites families, friends, and visitors of all ages to Wonder Wednesdays, a free summer series designed for diverse learning styles and abilities.
What: Enjoy five weeks of hands-on artmaking, performances, and imaginative play. Each Wednesday will explore a different America250-inspired theme and will include activities for a variety of ages and abilities, plus a dedicated area for children under four.
Get ready for:
- July 1, We the People: How do stories, identities, and voices help shape our community? Craft self-portraits, create a community fingerprint tree, embark on a scavenger hunt, and enjoy a patriotic revue by the Hurrah Players!
- July 8, Expression: Explore how people use art to voice ideas, feelings, and opinions. Hampton Roads Modern Quilt Guild leads a collective project, the Doorway Singers perform, and you’re invited to make abstract art and zines.
- July 15, Ideas: Use symbols to explore big ideas like freedom, fairness, and justice. Dream about the future, create symbols and stamps, make your own flag, enjoy a scavenger hunt, and meet the great historic thinker, Frederick Douglass!
- July 22, Place and Space: How does where we live help shape who we are? Create origami, design a cardboard community, and configure a paper escape land. Critters from the Virginia Zoo, friends from Wetlands Watch, and storyteller Sheila Arnold join the fun.
- July 29, Imagination: Discover how art helps us see the future! Explore with squishy circuits, make medals, decorate with denim, and enjoy a performance from the Tidewater Winds Brass Ensemble.
When: Wednesdays, July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
Where: Chrysler Museum of Art, One Memorial Place, Norfolk
Why: Wonder Wednesdays invite visitors to explore the ideas, people, and stories that shape our community and nation. Inspired by the 250th anniversary of the United States, children and their caregivers can connect with art, history, and creativity through hands-on experiences and artmaking.
Admission to Wonder Wednesdays at the Chrysler Museum is free, and registration is not required. Stay up to date on events like these and more by visiting chrysler.org/events or following the Chrysler Museum of Art @ChryslerMuseum on social media.
