Intentional Designs of Expression in Artistic Languages (IDEAL)
IDEAL, Intentional Designs of Expression in Artistic Languages, is an initiative of Arts for Learning, the Virginia Affiliate of Young Audiences. This exhibition represents the final year of an innovative three-year project featuring after-school residencies for upper elementary students. A high level of collaboration ensured the success of this initiative, as we partnered with multiple Title 1 schools in three school divisions and the Chrysler Museum of Art.
The IDEAL students who participated in this year’s program came from Lake Taylor School (Norfolk), Park View Elementary School (Portsmouth), and Bayside Sixth Grade Campus (Virginia Beach). Guided by Arts for Learning’s professional teaching artists, students explored themes of patterns of self-identity and community through poetry, movement, and visual art.
Arts for Learning is excited to offer this exhibition as part of the culmination of IDEAL 2025. We are thankful to our sponsors, partners, and teaching artists, and we are very proud of the students.
