Constellations: Contemporary Jewelry from the Dallas Museum of Art
July 10, 2026 — January 3, 2027
Special Exhibition Galleries
Constellations: Contemporary Jewelry from the Dallas Museum of Art brings more than 350 works of wearable art to the Chrysler Museum of Art, showcasing nearly a century of creativity from jewelry artists across the globe. Organized by the Dallas Museum of Art, the exhibition explores the myriad ways artists have reimagined jewelry, revealing an extraordinary range of materials, forms, and ideas. Featuring golden crowns formed to look like cardboard, enchanting necklaces made from plastic bags, and whimsical brooches resembling toast, Constellations captures the depth, breadth, and diversity of contemporary jewelry design.
Featuring over 230 artists from 41 countries, the exhibition is presented in four thematic “constellations” that draw connections between works and explore how artists have expressed concepts of their time: Zones of the Body, Archetypes, Signals, and Play. Just as constellations allow stargazers to map a structure onto the vast night sky, these groupings help visitors navigate paths through the diverse pieces on view. Each features a case study that takes a deep dive into an artist or form, and an additional section explores the evolution of the collection, from initial acquisitions in 1950 to newly commissioned works by emerging talents. Constellations is the first exhibition dedicated to the Dallas Museum of Art’s world-class collection, offering visitors a fresh perspective on contemporary jewelry as both intimate adornment and bold artistic statement.
