Mixtape: Film Break in the Garden

Your chance to wine and unwind during an evening of live music, community connections, and art. Find out what’s in the mix each month!

This month: Film Break Society presents Wild Style (1983)

Ongoing ·         Venture into the Museum’s galleries and exhibitions on view until 9 p.m.

·         Enjoy hands-on art making with The Creative Wellness Center until 8:30 p.m.

·         Check out fun and easy-going analogue activities from our Digital Detox station.  It’s there to help you unplug and unwind. Check it out and enjoy being disconnected!

5:30 p.m. until film screening DJ Sets—The one and only FRESHTOPIA sets the stage for the evening, spinning and selling records before the film screening.
5:30 to 6:30 p.m. SOLD OUT! Food and Wine Pairing Conversation at Zinnia- Advance registration required.
6:00 p.m. Learn more about the Norfolk Innovation Corridor (NIC) at this special NIC Kickback!
6:30 – 7-15 p.m. Join BeatHunter for an interactive Hip Hop and breakdancing experience inspired by the culture and energy of Wild Style. Learn about the history of breaking and Hip Hop culture, explore the roots of the movement featured in the film, and try out your own moves on the dance floor. All ages and skill levels are welcome—come ready to learn, move, and celebrate the legacy of Hip Hop.
7:00 p.m. The Passion Network Scavenger Hunt – Go on a great adventure in the Museum and a fun way to meet new people – partner up for this friendly competition.  Register Here!
6:45- 7:15 p.m. and 7:45- 8:15 p.m. New York City is the undisputed birthplace of many of the world’s most iconic cocktails– join mixologist Josh Seaburg of Model Citizens Cocktails in a tasting of Borough classics. Limited Space Available.
7:15 and 8:15 p.m. Enjoy short Art Chats featuring photographs in Ilse Bing Between Paris and New York and other works with New York as a theme.
8:30 p.m./Dusk Film Break Society presents a screening of Wild Style (1983). South Bronx graffiti artist Shy Zoro is commissioned to paint a backdrop for a rap and break-dance concert during the early age of the rap industry.

AND OTHER ACTIVITES WILL BE MOVED INSIDE THE MUSEUM
