Let the Good Times Rolls at IgNITE: Kanaval

NORFOLK, VA (April 13, 2026) –
Who: The Chrysler Museum of Art invites party-goers ages 18+ to IgNITE: Kanaval, a high-energy evening when color, rhythm, and movement pulse through the Museum in a vibrant Carnival celebration.
What: IgNITE: Kanaval brings a night of non-stop fun and good vibrations to the Museum. Guests are encouraged to show up and show out in their best Carnival outfits and experience a night packed with live music, dancing, and interactive experiences, including:
• DJ Jofroxi spinning hot global beats
• Live Music with Hot Gumbo Brass Band and ODU’s Monarch Steel Orchestra
• Rum-tasting and a signature cocktail by Josh Seaburg of Model Citizen Cocktails
• Drop in drum circle with Tabor to Bantu
• Fun with Rollbounce Rollout
• Utopia Feni to spice up your Carnival wear
• Latin Dancing with Quiana and Line Dancing with Simone and Tresa
• Art chats in “Beyond the Mountains: Danny Lyon’s Photography in Haiti”
• And more: parading photo ops, cool vendors, and creative moments all night!
When: Friday, April 24, from 7–10 p.m.
Where: Chrysler Museum of Art, One Memorial Place, Norfolk
Why: IgNITE: Kanaval invites new and returning audiences to experience the Chrysler Museum in bold and unexpected ways, inspired by the exhibition “Beyond the Mountains: Danny Lyon’s Photography in Haiti.” By connecting art, performance, music, dancing, and cultural celebration, the event creates a welcoming space where creativity and community come together.
Tickets: Ticket prices are $10 for Museum members and $25 for non-members. Tickets increase $10 on the day of event. Tickets are available now at chrysler.org/ignite.
Dress Code: Bold and colorful Carnival attire is encouraged. For safety and security, handheld masks are permitted, but full-face and masquerade-style masks are not. Attire should not extend 6 inches beyond the body. No nudity.
