Glen McClure

On View

May 18, 2017 — September 24, 2017

Location

Past Exhibition

Norfolk-based photographer Glen McClure spent years visiting shipyards throughout Hampton Roads searching for the faces of the faceless men and women who form the foundation of our coastal economy.

After roughly 9,000 frames and 400 subjects, the end result is an exhibition so large it will be presented at four Hampton Roads locations this summer.

Captured on the docks and decks that line our waterways, McClure’s photographs are monumentally scaled, yet intimately detailed. It’s a celebration of the skill, knowledge, and individuality of these dedicated workers, and the Chrysler is proud to present 21 portraits of these hardhat heroes from May 18 to September 24.

Additional portraits will be on view this summer in collaborative exhibitions at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center in Newport News, the Portsmouth Art and Cultural Center, and The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center in Hampton.
