Art is often seen as the product of an isolated genius, a lonely individual quietly working at their easel. However, artists and their works have always represented more than just the individual’s talent. Local artist and teacher Shara Wetz and glass artist Heather Sutherland will join Manager of Experiential Learning Emily Cayton to explore how artmaking is a collective activity where ideas emerge through cooperation, exchange, and shared experience between friends, mentors, and rivals.
The three-part Salon series features intimate discussions around Susan Watkins exhibition’s big ideas. The salons will take place in the exhibition gallery, with discussions led by art curators, academic scholars, community members, and historians. The interactive and intimate format allows the public to engage more deeply with the exhibition’s subject matter.
