Located near downtown Norfolk and overlooking the Hague Inlet of the Elizabeth River, the Chrysler Museum of Art has been called "one of the pleasantest places in the United States to while the day away" --The New York Times.

The beautiful, unique spaces described below are available for special event rental. The Museum is also available for wedding photography and other photographic shoots. The elegant and spectacular Museum atmosphere is host to hundreds of special events, weddings, dinners, and receptions each year.

Huber Court

The Museum's enclosed central courtyard is a grand and appealing space. Inspired by 15th-century Florentine design, the two-story white stucco walls set off a patterned slate and marble floor and a vaulted glass ceiling supported by great wooden trusses. The double staircase provides an impressive focal point while the glass ceiling floods the space with sunlight or moonlight, creating a truly breathtaking setting for your event.

Renaissance arcades along the courtyard's perimeter offer entry into the Museum's galleries, specifically those containing the highly regarded glass collection and the Changing Exhibitions Gallery.

Huber Court can accommodate 400 for cocktails and 220 for a seated dinner. Included in the rental fee is use of tables and chairs, the sound system, podium, and kitchen facilities. Weddings and receptions at the Museum include use of the Tiffany Gallery and Memorial Gardens at no extra charge.

Tiffany Gallery and Memorial Garden

The Tiffany Gallery, a treasure of the Museum, highlights a fascinating survey of Louis Comfort Tiffany's legendary artistry in glass, pottery, metal work and enamels. The Museum's holding of Tiffany glass constitutes one of the premiere collections of its kind in the world. It is an extraordinary setting for your intimate reception. The Tiffany Gallery can accommodate 100 for standing cocktails and 40 for a seated dinner.

Enclosed by a garden hedge, the Memorial Garden overlooks The Hague Inlet and surrounds a small pool with a lit fountain -- a truly peaceful and remarkable setting for your event. At the entrance to the Tiffany Gallery is a long tiled veranda , which faces the Memorial Garden. The veranda and Garden can be transformed into a lovely place for a dinner or reception.

The Memorial Garden can accommodate 200 for standing cocktails and 40 for a seated dinner. Included in the rental is the use of tables and chairs. When Huber Court is rented for a wedding and reception, the fee for the Tiffany Gallery and Memorial Garden is waived. After the wedding ceremony, guests are welcome in the Gallery and Garden area as Huber Court is prepared for a memorable reception.

Moses Myers House Gardens

The beautiful gardens situated beside the historic Moses Myers House on Freemason Street in downtown Norfolk is a pristine, quiet setting for your small outdoor celebration, wedding, dinner or reception. The quaint, lit garden area is spacious, yet intimate, serving as a wonderful venue for many types of events.

Colonial-style brick walkways and short white fences connect, separate, and enclose the two adjacent colorful gardens providing incredible flexibility in this beautiful area.

The gardens also offer a great location for an outdoor wedding ceremony, reception or dinner. The Moses Myers House gardens can accommodate 100 for theatre-style seating, 100 for standing cocktails and 60 for a seated dinner. If you are looking for a peaceful place to hold an unforgettable outdoor celebration, the gardens at the Moses Myers House are a perfect fit.

The George M. and Linda H. Kaufman Theatre

A handsome, mid-sized performance hall, the Theatre can now comfortably seat 375 and has tremendous flexibility. The space is perfect for corporate meetings as it has an in-house sound system as well as a computerized lighting system, a counter-weight fly system, a lectern, a theatre-size projection screen and an automatic main drape. The Theatre is also great for lectures, recitals, or dance performances. Included in the rental fee is use of the following equipment: slide projectors, data projector, a DVD player, and a concert grand piano.

Gifford Seminar Room

The Museum's Gifford Seminar Room is a perfect location for meetings and small lectures. The flexibility of this space allows us to accommodate your group in a variety of ways. A small fee covers the use of state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment.

The Gifford Seminar Room can seat up to 40 people theatre-style, 30 with classroom-style seating, and 22 using conference-style seating. Tables, chairs, linens, and a podium are included in your rental fee. The following equipment is available to rent for this room: LCD video component, visual presenter, CD or cassette player, and an easel with writing tablet. A Crestron wireless control panel runs our audio-visual equipment.

Freemason Reception Center and Conference Room

The new Reception Center was built for visitors to the Moses Myers and Willoughby-Baylor Houses and MacArthur Center. Cederquist, Rodriguez, Ripley & Maddox designed the 3,080 square-foot Federal-style Center to complement the surrounding buildings. It is located next to the historic Moses Myers House on Freemason Street by the North Entrance to MacArthur Center.

The Reception Center's spacious new meeting room is well equipped with audio-visual equipment. The meeting room can accommodate 30 people in theatre-style seating (the rental fee includes 30 chairs and six tables). The entire Reception Center can accommodate 50-60 for a seated dinner and 100 for standing cocktails. Your caterer must provide tables and chairs for cocktail and dinner parties.
