On Thursdays this February, it’s time to Warm It! at the Chrysler!

It’s easy to get into our popular after-work series for FREE. Just join For Art’s Sake or renew your membership, then skip the ticket line at the door. You won’t want to miss this season’s live music, cash bar libations, and lively NEW “playlist” art tours that link our bands to art in the Chrysler collection. It’s the best deal in town. Join today!

2/4 Against All Odds: Against All Odds is a tightly knit quartet whose musical repertoire extends from fusion to Latin, funk, and rhythm and blues-along with vocals/choruses sprinkled in as a side order to the main course.

Playlist Tour: Photography Soul

2/11 Mercy Creek: Mercy Creek has successfully paved a musical path by creating a unique brand of music they call aggressive folk rock. The duo has just produced their fifth CD, “Another Place to Start,” recently listed on Paul Shugrue’s top 10 list for 2009.

Playlist Tour: Lovers and Haters

2/18 The Muckrakes: This seven-piece band is known for adding a Tidewater twist to bluegrass, country and Americana roots rock. Songs range from original tunes to covers of Dolly Parton and the Cure.

Membership Drive

If you’re a young professional between the ages of 21 and 40 who loves both music and museums, For Art’s Sake is the group for you! We’re always looking for enthusiastic new members to share our interest in the arts.

FAS is dedicated to advancing the mission of the Chrysler Museum—bringing art and people together to enrich and transform lives. Our group hosts a variety of great mixers and fundraising events—namely, the Warm It! series every February and the Cool It! series. For Art’s Sake is proud to donate approximately $20,000 annually to the Museum. By joining FAS—and by inviting your friends and colleagues to join, as well—you help support the Chrysler Museum and keep it thriving as the cultural cornerstone of our Hampton Roads community.

Membership dues are only $30 in addition to Museum membership. Remember, FAS Members always get in FREE to Cool It! and Warm It! concerts, plus get special discounts on other events that FAS sponsors.

To join, please contact Jenny Kolin at (757) 333-6294 or jkolin@chrysler.org.

Recent Successes

Dance Like an Egyptian!
Last October’s Members’ Opening Weekend for To Live Forever: Egyptian Treasures from the Brooklyn Museum was a great success! Museum Members danced the night away to the undead funk-rock of Here Come the Mummies, proudly sponsored by For Art’s Sake.

Cool It! at the Chrysler 2009
Thanks to all who attended the July 2009 Cool It! series. Over 1,500 people came to the Chrysler throughout the month to enjoy live music, libations, and art.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Attention Hampton Roads professionals—invite your company to become an FAS sponsor! For Art’s Sake sponsorship offers great networking opportunities, not to mention advertising signage at the Museum and logo inclusion in mailings to over 5,000 Museum constituents.

We also invite college alumni groups to hold their next gathering at a Warm It! event! Show off your alma mater and catch up with old friends against the backdrop of great art and live music. For more information, please contact Jenny Kolin at (757) 333-6294 or jkolin@chrysler.org.
